Island will thrive, says Sir John
Thursday 6th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
ON the eve of his departure, the Lieut-Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire, has spoken of his belief in the Island’s ability to continue to thrive as a leading finance centre.
With a vibrant finance industry committed to Jersey and favourable political and geographical conditions for finance to continue to flourish, Sir John said that he was hugely optimistic about the Island’s future.
‘I also believe that the finance industry believes that Jersey, in the political and social sense, is very stable and politically reliable and, therefore, a very good place for them to be,’ he said.
One of the main reasons for Sir John’s optimism was the talents of the Island’s young entrepreneurs.
‘The education system in its widest sense is second to none.
The youngsters who come out of it are of the highest quality with huge amounts of latent leadership,’ he said.
