Rise in families waiting for States homes
Thursday 6th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
THE number of families waiting for States accommodation has gone up to 265.
However, Housing say that despite the rise, new developments due to be completed this year will lessen the pressure on flats and houses.
At the start of the year there were 265 families or individuals waiting for States accommodation and 461 families or individuals already in States accommodation waiting to move somewhere else.
Housing Minister Terry Le Main said that new developments would take the heat out of the list.
‘There is a lot happening,’ he said.
‘We managed to fund these projects through refurbishment or sell-offs.’ The Hodge II development in St Clement is expected to be completed next month and the 96 units at Le Coie will be ready by August.
There are also developments in St Ouen.
