Tributes follow death of Chef de Police

Thursday 6th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.

TRIBUTES have been paid to environmentalist Bob Burrow, who died suddenly on Monday.

Mr Burrow, who was the St Clement Chef de Police, was 56.

He was a keen supporter of the Young Ornithologists Club, the Société Jersiaise, the National Trust and Action for Wildlife.

Both St Clement Constable Derek Gray and Mr Burrow’s friend and colleague in environmental projects for 30 years, Mike Stentiford, have paid tribute to a man of great energy and knowledge.

Mr Gray said Mr Burrow was a great ‘parish man’ involved in many facets of life in St Clement.

He said he rejoined the honorary police in 2001 after a stint in the force in the 1980s and was appointed Chef de Police in August 2003.

‘He was a very, very popular man,’ said Mr Gray.

‘He was very involved with the parish and if there was something going on, he was always readily available for any function.’
