First meeting for Public Purse group
Tuesday 11th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
THE special committee formed to consider JEP readers’ ideas for cutting public expenditure meets today for the first time.
Deputy John Le Fondré will chair the group, which consists of Senator Ben Shenton and Deputies Ian Gorst, Juliette Gallichan and Deidre Mezbourian.
It was established after the Council of Ministers welcomed the campaign and agreed to consider readers’ suggestions seriously.
Deputy Le Fondré said that they were meeting informally today to decide how to approach sifting through the copies of the reply forms and e-mails.
But, he added, they did not expect to start work in earnest until next month.
