New warning over spiked drinks
Wednesday 12th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
TWO agencies are warning that they have been contacted by people claiming their drinks have been spiked, leaving them with no memory of the night before’s events.
Victim Support and Jersey Brook are highlighting the potential problem which they said is affecting men and women.
Hazel Jury of Victim Support and Jayne Fitzsimmons of Jersey Brook said they believed several people, including a young man, who approached their agencies may have been raped in this way.
The two women are hoping to increase their visits to secondary schools, youth clubs and other groups to raise awareness of the danger of accepting drinks from strangers or leaving drinks unattended.
