Football:Jersey make it three in a row
Thursday 13th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY’S under-11 footballers scored their third consecutive victory in the annual Primary Schools’ Festival at the FB Fields yesterday.
Jack Hinton hit the only goal, a close range tap-in following a mêlée in the goalmouth, to give the hosts a 1-0 win against Newbury B.
However, it wasn’t their best performance from the Jersey team, said coach Mark De Luca.
‘We’ve had two indifferent performances on the trot despite winning the games,’ he said.
‘Yesterday Newbury B were not a strong side and we dropped our standard a bit to play at their level and that was a great shame.
‘But as far as the results go we’ve done very well and we will be aiming to raise the level again for our final two games.’ Jersey squad: Jordan Le Guyader, Jamie Vibert, Jamie Gray, Ryan Thorpe, David Blampied, Matthew Wellman, Kavaghn Miley, Luke Stratford, William Humphrey, Richard Goncalves, Danny Brannen, Jamie Burrows, Jack Hinton, Charlie Griggs, Steven Ellis and James Le Feuvre-Hunt.
Yesterday’s results: Sutton Coldfield White 1, Barking 4; South Birmingham 1, Gloucester 2; Newbury B 0, Jersey 1; Hackney 2, Bath A 3; Plymouth 3, Bath B 0; Thurrock 2, Orpington 3; Sutton Coldfield Red 3, Festival Elect 0; Newbury A 3, Chiltern 1.
