HILL CLIMB: The Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club’s Easter hill climb at Bouley Bay yesterday attracted large crowds – and produced two records.

Mike Bellée, in the historic motorcycle class, and Tyson Falth, production saloon car unlimited class, set the new marks, with the fastest times of the day going Len Amy (car) and Bruce Dingle (bike).

SHOOTING: Colin Mallett won the Bisley Easter Meeting at Bisley over the weekend, pushing Ross McQuillan of Great Britain in second spot.

Alex Langley was unlucky to miss out of the 1,000 yard competition after firing a superb 72 ex 75.

Bruce Horwood performed well in the short-range aggregate while Peter Stock won the Queens II shoot with a brilliant 150 ex 150.

FOOTBALL: Jersey champions St John beat Guernsey Sylvans 2-1 at the Track on Saturday afternoon to lift the Ladies’ Upton for the first time.

Both goals were scored by Karen Caygill.

MOTOCROSS: Ten-year-old Lee Le Viellez achieved another podium placing in his second Motocross event in the Brittany Championship over the weekend.

He placed third in both races to finish third overall, despite riding on a borrowed machine.

NETBALL: Jersey champions Convent A beat their Sarnian counterparts, Nerine A 47-32 in the annual Upton challenge in Guernsey on Sunday.

Nerine E gained revenge over Convent’s D team in the Division II Upton, winning 38-36, but St Lawrence C gave Jersey the overall edge edge by beating Heritage 40-25 in the Division III match.

GOLF: Richard Cornick won the Demi Golf Society’s tombstone competition on Saturday, finishing 20 yards from the 19th hole at St Clement’s GC.

Toni Rowles and Kenny Mitchell both finished three foot from the 18th.

CLAY TARGET: Mick Brown collected the High Gun and Class A award at Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50-bird sporting over the weekend, with 42 ex 50.

Class B winner was Chris L’Amy 34 ex 50, with Adrian Fox’s 35 ex 50 earning the Class C honours.

GOLF: Coppock cuts handicap The Royal Jersey GC’s Michael Scott Cup Stableford on Saturday was won by 17-handicapper Geoff Coppock with 39 points.

His handicap is now reduced to 15.5.

GOLF: Promising Junior Scott Lee produced an excellent four under score on Sunday to claim the Jersey Western Easter Medal.

Dave Carey claimed the scratch with a three over 75, continuing his impressive return to form following back surgery.

GOLF: Richard Kemp won the Wheatlands GC Trout Trophy at St Peter on Saturday, with 39 points, two ahead of Craig Whitelaw.

BOWLS: Skip Alan Le Sueur led Chris O’Connor, and Malcolm de Sousa to victory in the Jersey Indoor Bowling Association’s Easter competition.

They beat Dickie Allen, Pearl Hairon and Cathy Le Sueur 11-8 in the final at Grainville.

SHOOTING: Jersey Commonwealth Games shooter Dave Ward won the final of the Jersey Pistol club’s ISSF Centrefire pistol with 561 points, pushing Derek Bernard, 553, into second spot.

Bob Blake took a well-deserved victory in the Police Pistol Class A final, lifting the Eric Ellis Shield.

SURFING: Sixteen-year-old Beaulieu student Grace Davies won the first round of the British Longboard series, in Perranporth, Cornwall over the weekend.

GOLF: Frazer MacKenzie won St Clement’s GC’s Liberation Cup with 39 points at the weekend, two more than George Le Maistre.
