That’s inflation!

TURNING £1 into £1,000 is not something that happens overnight – but in the case of four rare Jersey pound notes it has taken almost 200 years.
The monetary specimens are to be auctioned next week in London and are all expected to raise about £1,000 each.
One of the notes attracting a lot of interest was one issued by the Bank of St Brelade on 7 October 1859 – the year Charles Dickens published A Tale Of Two Cities.
Two other notes – from the Mont au Prêtre Jersey Bank and the Jersey Joint Stock Bank – are valued at up to £1,200 each, while the fourth was issued by the Jersey Bank on 4 April 1815 – the year of the Battle of Waterloo.
The auction is on 27 April.
