Agency takes graft out of finding staff
Thursday 20th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
A NEW and novel recruitment company has set up in Jersey – solely for manual workers.
The Grafters company was born over the table at the Breakfast Club at the Pomme d’Or hotel when Hugh Jones, James Baker and Phil Balderson came up with the idea for an agency for specialist drivers who could be supplied at short notice.
But since Grafters opened for business from their Charles Street office a month ago that pool of labour has grown to include tradesmen and manual workers.
The Island had 43 recruitment agencies, all for clerical staff.
Grafters became the 44th and now has 180 workers – carpenters, bricklayers and other tradesmen as well as labourers and drivers – on its books.
