Firms urged to prepare for new EU legislation
Thursday 20th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
NEW European legislation is likely to to have an impact on Channel Island companies, says a leading accountancy firm.
The legislation in question is MiFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive) which is due to come into force fully by the end of 2007.
KPMG Channel Islands is organising seminars in Jersey and Guernsey during June to examine the impact of the directive in the local context.
MiFID will replace the EU Investment Services Directive which currently governs intermediaries and financial markets.
The new law will extend the current regime and introduce more extensive regulatory requirements.
