New castle playground closed
Monday 24th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
MONT Orgueil’s children’s playground has fallen foul of health and safety conditions and Planning.
Children have been barred from the £50,000 activity playground in Sir John Peyton’s Bulwarks since the day after the castle reopened three weeks ago.
Throughout the Easter holidays castle staff have had to explain that the playground is out of bounds.
Jersey Heritage Trust financial director Nick Danby said until the safety and planning issues had been resolved the playground could not be used without supervision and there were not enough trained staff to be on duty all the time.
The playground was one of the last attractions to be installed as part of the £4.5 million restoration.
