Skipper fined £8,000 for Guernsey fishing
Monday 24th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.
A JERSEY skipper who fished in Guernsey waters for 27 years has been fined £8,000 for spending 15 hours within their six-mile limit.
Michael Micheli tried to block the antenna on his vessel monitoring system to disguise the fact that he was fishing further inshore than his permit allowed.
But when he unblocked it later, the delayed information was sent to the UK Marine Fisheries Agency, He admitted fishing within the six-mile limit for 15 hours and crossing the three-mile limit at one point – despite not having a licence to do so.
