Praise for patient care in hospital

PATIENTS at Jersey’s General Hospital are much happier with the Island’s healthcare than those in hospital in England and Wales, a study has found.

Health today released the findings of the Inpatient Survey 2005, which was conducted by the Picker Institute Europe, an independent body specialising in healthcare research.

More than 475 Islanders responded to a questionnaire which was sent to 800 people after a stay in the General Hospital.

The results showed that people saw their health service as ‘significantly better’ than average compared with the way patients viewed the care they received in the NHS in 53 of 82 areas which they were asked about.
