THE CI Traders Group has acquired Portsmouth business MMD Shipping Services and is intending to transfer its Channel Islands distribution centres to the UK from 2007.
The group also has plans to redevelop the former Ann Street Brewery site as a multi-storey car park.
The announcements were included in today’s preliminary results for the year to 28 January, which show that overall the company made profit before tax of £15.2 million, a 3.4% increase on last year.
CI Traders is the largest private employer in the Channel Islands with 3,300 staff, including the Checkers and Safeway supermarkets and Marks & Spencer franchise, the former Ann Street pubs, an extensive wholesale distribution business and a growing property portfolio.
