Au pair murder: £50,000 reward

A PROMINENT Island businessman is offering a £50,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the murderer of Finnish au pair Tuula Hoeoek.

He believes there must be someone in the Island who knows who bludgeoned the 20-year-old to death in a St Clement field in 1966.

‘It is time to break 40 years of silence and come forward,’ said the businessman, who wishes to remain anonymous.

‘I have daughters who are a similar age to the murdered girl and it is just horrendous to think that her family cannot get closure.

She suffered such a horrific death and I hope the reward will encourage anyone with information to come forward after all these years.’ Miss Hoeoek is thought to have been picked up from a bus stop in Georgetown on New Year’s Eve, taken to a field near Clos de Roncier, in St Clement, and beaten to death with a blunt weapon.

Her skull was smashed to pieces.
