Muratti ladies full of confidence

Friday 28th April 2006, 12:00AM BST.

TALENTED Jersey are confident they will win the Cimandis ladies’ Muratti for a fifth consecutive time on Sunday.

Manager Kevin Miller is in charge for the first time this year and he has no doubts Jersey will win at Springfield.

Miller said: ‘I’m looking forward to the game.

Eight months of hard work has been done and I’m confident we will win.

‘Guernsey are in a transitional period.

Five of last year’s starting line up are not playing this time while the majority of their side are 15-20 year-olds from Rangers and Rovers.

‘We are very experienced compared to Guernsey and that should be enough to see us through providing we perform well as a group.

‘When the inter-insular series started years ago Guernsey had the experience and we had the youngsters; this time the boot is on the other foot.’ Miller says the Jersey squad has good strength in depth and many players who can adapt to playing in several positions.

Jersey have four uncapped players in their 18-player squad for Sunday’s game, which kicks off at 2 o’clock.

Uncapped are Jersey Wanderers’ Rebecca Bichard, St Clement’s Tara Marie and Aisling Farrell and First Tower United’s Louise Vandervliet.

St John’s Nina Woods has been named as captain.

Other squad players are: Jo Fuller and Helen Lagadu (both St Peter), Kathryn Porter (Jersey Wanderers), Becky Darts, Kirstin Buttle-Ulvin (St John), Katie Ridley (Grouville), Suzanne Rosser (St Paul’s), Tara Marie, Krystle Matthews (both St Clement) and Nicki Warren, Lauren Jéhan, Michelle Bichard, Leanne Bell and Lisa McLaughlin (all First Tower).

Chris Jéhan and Tim Sauvage are assistant managers, Geoff Vandervliet goalkeeping coach and Kim Richings physiotherapist.
