WI’s sign language speaks volumes

THE Constables had better watch out – the ladies of the Women’s Institute will soon be knocking on their doors.

Following the success of the WI’s national Save Our Streets campaign to reduce the amount of signs and street furniture cluttering the highways and byways, the Constable of Trinity, John Gallichan, is being extolled as an example to his fellow fathers of the parishes.

Trinity has supported the WI campaign to the hilt by reducing and refurbishing road signs at various locations and, as Island WI chairman Joy Thomson said, if Trinity can do it, so can the other parishes.

‘We shall be using Trinity as an example,’ she said.

‘I shall be going back to my ladies and saying to them that the Constable of Trinity has agreed to back the campaign and that if there is anything in your parish that is either outstanding from last year’s parish audits or still needs looking at, then go to your Constable.’
