Motorcyclists make charity ride for Michael
Saturday 1st July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
OVER 100 motorcyclists will converge on the Albert Pier tomorrow to raise money for an African school project started by a Jerseyman who died suddenly last year from malaria.
They will then ride, in convoy, to St Catherine’s Breakwater where they will remember their former fellow motorcyclist Michael Doublet, who would have celebrated his 49th birthday yesterday.
During the later years of his life, Michael, or Mick as he was also known, dedicated his life to helping children in the Gambia after visiting Africa years before with an Overseas Aid party.
He regularly spent months in the country and eventually he set up an educational charity called SCHOLAR.
