Pledge to simplify staff regulations

ECONOMIC Development Minister Philip Ozouf has personally sent a letter to businesses to encourage more firms to apply for a three-year staff licence.
And he has pledged to ‘make things simpler’ and bring in a single combined Social Security and Manpower return.
The message, enclosed with the half-yearly manpower returns which are sent to all Island firms, suggests that a three-year licence will save time for both the businesses concerned and the Regulation of Undertakings office.
Senator Ozouf says: ‘Having this licence means that you have staff quota agreed for three years, possibly above that which you already have.
You would then not have to reapply if a non-local leaves your employment or a local employee leaves and the vacancy is not filled within six months.
