GOLF Two in-ones Holes-in-one were scored by Jimmy McConnell and Rab Brogan in the St Clement’s GC’s monthly medal competition yesterday, both on the 12th hole.

Competition winner was Phil McGovern with nett 55 off 15 handicap, and Tony Cleworth was second with nett 57 off 19.

CROQUET Queen Anne’s classic lines Anne Van der Vliet played two faultless games over the week-end at Les Quennevais to win the Jersey Croquet Club’s Veterans Tournament.

She beat Martin Hodge 26-0 in the semi-final and then repeated this success by beating Richard Sowerby 26-0 in the final.

GOLF Jolly July for Roger Roger de Sousa won the Demi Golf Society’s July Monthly medal with a net 58 off his ten handicap, one stroke clear of 24-handicapper Robert Smith.

PETANQUE Ladies reign at the Manor Joy Hart and Elaine Paisnel are JPA French Imports Island Doubles champions after beating Tony Lagadu and Rosie Boléat 13-6 in the final at Samarès Manor.

SOFTBALL Rough on Diamonds The Barclays Outdoor League Inter-Divisional match at Les Quennevais yesterday resulted in a 24-3 win for Barclays Niners over Crills Rough Diamonds.

Other results, Div I: Serco Cubs 8, Flyers 10.

Div II: CPA Pirates 5, AIB Shamrocks 26.

SHOOTING Chris settles for win High Gun and class A winner at yesterday’s Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50-bird sporting was Chris Settle, with a score of 39 ex 50.

Class A+ was won by Jon de la Haye with 36 ex 50 and Class B winner was Paul Cragg on 29 ex 50.

C class was won by Chris Pett with 21 ex 50.

CYCLING 50 win for Spence Chris Spence (CCC) beat the two-hour time barrier yesterday, winning the Jersey Cycling Association 50-mile time trial, raced over the northern parishes, by one and a half minutes, ahead of second-placed Jim Garrett (VSJ) whose time was 2.2.36.

Despite being relatively flat, this was a tough course as temperatures were already well into the 20s at 7 am.

First vet home was Mike Harris and first junior was Chris Seviour, continuing his good form.

GOLF Jersey teams top Royal Jersey GC beat L’Ancresse GC 6.5-5.5, La Moye GC 7-5 and drew 6-6 with Royal Guernsey to regain the Jersey Golf Union Alexander Forbes CI league title in Guernsey over the weekend.

La Moye GC was second after beating L’Ancresse yesterday.

In the top match CI champion Matthew Parkman was beaten 2 and 1 by Bobby Eggo.

SAILING Little brother wins Dragoon Lawrence Carter and Emily Hart won the Junior Hobie Dragoon class from Lawrence’s elder sister Laura Jane and her crew Thomas Harris in the Summer Breeze race yesterday, Laura Voak and Roger Rice were third.

Stalwarts Gordon Burgis and Ken Snell on their Hobie 16 Pure Energy won the A fleet race with Darren Stower and Mike Winspear second on Suma’s, and father-and-son team Stuart and Cameron McCue third on Sidewinder.

ROWING Gorey to Bonne Nuit race Nine boats took part in the Jersey Rowing Club’s handicap race yesterday morning, from Gorey to Bonne Nuit, with Louise Hall and crew in the ladies fours first overall, Helene Montpetit (L4) second and Colin Jennett and Georgia Le Huray third in the mixed pairs boat.

The fastest time – 54.49 min – was delivered by the Jersey Post men’s four, with the Jersey Post pair clocking 56.02 and Moore Stephens (L4) 1.00.52.

ATHLETICS New club record Jamie Stevenson produced a new PB and U17 club record discus throw of 49.10m at the Jersey Spartan AC Track and Field championships yesterday on a day which saw numerous excellent personal best times and distances produced.

SHOOTING Trophy for St John’s St John’s won the JRA Parish shoot for the Le Fèvre Trophy yesterday, with a total 414.44, their team member Richard Benest top-scored with 104.14.

However, Wally Langley, for runners-up St Clement, produced the overall highest score of 105.15 towards their total 409.53.

St Helier was third with 401.39.
