Theatre’s board member resigns
Tuesday 4th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
A MEMBER of the board of Jersey Opera House Ltd has resigned as he believes the board is no longer acting in the best interests of the theatre.
Michael Vardon, who joined the board in December 2004, gave his resignation to Colin Perchard, chairman of the Jersey Arts Trust which appoints members of the board, and theatre chairman Advocate Christopher Lakeman on Tuesday 27 June.
Mr Vardon said: ‘I have found myself in disagreement with actions taken by the board on a number of occasions, and the inappropriate management of the current situation at the theatre was the last straw.
I no longer believe that the actions of the existing board are in the best interests of the Jersey Opera House or its long-term future.
I have therefore resigned.’
