A conference centre ‘is vital’
Wednesday 5th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY badly needs a purpose-built conference and events centre, says the managing director of the Island’s biggest hotel business.
David Seymour of Seymour Hotels said the Island lacks a facility that would allow it to stage major national and international events.
And he said the location should probably be the St Helier waterfront.
Mr Seymour said the waterfront project does not seem to have been clearly thought through and lacks a centre piece that could be used to stage major events in the Island.
He said Jersey should be looking to stage big events in order to attract more visitors, especially in the shoulder and winter months.
