Celebration all round – even in face of defeat

PROUD Portugal fans took to the streets last night to celebrate their team’s World Cup success – despite being defeated in the semi-final by France.
Although there were probably tears among many of the Island’s Portuguese community at the final whistle last night, the overwhelming feeling was joy that they had got this far – and put England out in the process.
Judging by the atmosphere outside Minden Place car park following the game, most would have thought it was Portugal that were going to the final on Sunday.
The police said that both the Portuguese and French fans were good-natured and there were no arrests.
