‘Let’s welcome low-cost airlines’
Thursday 6th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY should welcome low-cost airlines, according to millionaire businessman David Crossland.
The man who was hoping to bring Center Parcs to Jersey says that the Island should embrace cheap carriers in future.
Addressing 250 people at a Chamber of Commerce lunch yesterday, Mr Crossland said that tourism in the Island was picking up but more could be done.
Asked where he saw tourism going in the Island in future, he said that the States should look to embrace the low-cost airline.
His comments came soon after Jersey’s new Airport director, Julian Green, said he had no intention of ‘prostituting’ the Island to attract low-cost carriers.
