Donelda shows viewers how to handle TV fame
Wednesday 12th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
AFTER successfully training Linda Barker’s dachsund on Celebrity Dog Show in 2003, Jersey dog handler Donelda Guy will be back on the TV screens as an expert judge on Sunday in a new Channel 4 programme, Britain’s Top Dog.
The seven-part series, presented by Liza Tarbuck, gives dogs and owners with no previous competition experience just a few weeks to train for a regional heat which they must win to secure a place in the grand final, and a chance for their pet to be crowned Britain’s Top Dog.
Each week four canine competitors are chosen from an initial audition to train with experts in their own specialist field.
Each dog and owner will have six weeks to learn these new skills, such as freestyle dancing and scent work, before competing in front of a live audience and the show’s three experts – Donelda Guy, the judge for heel work to music, agility expert Jo Fraser and Colin Tennant, police dog scent work expert.
