Thursday 13th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
ARMED police officers closed off the area around Troy Court at Grands Vaux this morning after reports of an armed siege.
Residents in the block of flats closest to the Checkers Express supermarket had been told to stay indoors and the supermarket itself was evacuated.
One resident told the JEP: ‘I was told that we had to stay indoors because some guy had gone crazy in his flat’ All roads around the area, including Langley Avenue and Rue à la Dame, were blocked by the police and access to the area has been restricted.
Police confirmed that they were searching for someone and that in the meantime, people should avoid the area.
