Heroes who saved a boy from the sea

TWO men who risked their own lives to save a drowning teenager whose unconscious body was being dashed against rocks by a heavy swell have been hailed as heroes.

Stephen Norman and Jorge Oliveira today talked about the heart-stopping moments on Tuesday evening when they dived into the water at Le Dicq fearing the 14-year-old was already dead.

It required a huge effort to lift his limp and bleeding body out of the water as they too were thrown by the waves against the jagged, slippery, barnacle-covered rocks.

He was today said to be recovering well after a period in intensive care.

Ambulance chief John Moulin today praised the selflessness of the rescuers.

‘If it had not been for their quick thinking and intervention I feel sure we would have been dealing with a far graver tragedy,’ he said.

‘I think they saved the boy’s life.
