Jersey Telecom up for sale?

JERSEY Telecom will be sold off, if the States agree with the views of Treasury Minister Terry Le Sueur published today.

Nearly 500 Telecom staff in Jersey and Guernsey were told this morning that a consultation period to discuss the sale of the States-owned company had been launched.

A States debate is scheduled for October.

Telecom say it is ‘business as usual’ and chairman John Henwood said the board supported the sale, provided it would be in the interests of all stakeholders, including staff and customers.
