£1/2m pay-out for postman?
Saturday 15th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
A FORMER postman is in line for a pay-out of at least £500,000 after hurting his back while working.
Jacques Chartier (39) has won a Royal Court case for damages against Jersey Post, although an appeal has already been lodged.
Mr Chartier, who was represented by Advocate Olaf Blakeley, suffered the back injury while trying to pick up a box full of bank statements at HSBC’s former premises in Hill Street in November 1999.
He claimed he had been inadequately trained and sued both Jersey Post and the bank for nearly £1 million in damages for injury and loss of earnings.
Mr Chartier claimed that in addition to the physical injury, he has also suffered from depression since.
