Overtime bill for police is £550,000

THE States police overtime bill comes to over £550,000 a year.
The figure was revealed by Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard in response to written questions in the States.
And she also revealed that the cost of the inquiry carried out by Devon and Cornwall Police into the fatal crash involving a States police car on St Clement’s Coast Road last August came to about £70,000.
Debbie Gardiner was killed in the accident and P sgt Mark Hafey denies an associated careless driving charge.
He is due to appear in the Magistrate’s Court again next month.
Senator Kinnard was answering questions about internal police inquiries into officers and staff when she revealed the information.
