Acorn branches into mortgages

Friday 21st July 2006, 12:00AM BST.

ACORN Finance, one of Jersey’s largest consumer asset and finance companies, has launched Acorn Mortgages, an independent mortgage service.

The company will provide an in-house service offering advice on a range of mortgage products including first-time buyer mortgages, home-mover mortgages, re-mortgages, buy-to-let mortgages and second mortgages.

Acorn will also sell insurance-related products, including long-term life insurance, critical illness cover and mortgage and income protection.

It was granted its Investment Business Licence last month and will be regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

The extension to the Acorn brand has been driven by client demand, said Acorn Mortgages director Steve Ryan.

The team of directors of parent company Acorn Finance – Andrew Schaffer, David Tupper and Richard Harrop – has built strong relationships with all the mainstream recognised lenders in the Island and yet, he said, the business remains totally independent.
