Fury over secret debate

THE States could be plunged into political crisis as one of its former leaders contemplates Royal Court action against the entire Assembly.

Former Policy and Resources president Senator Pierre Horsfall is so incensed that he was personally attacked behind closed doors this week that he is contemplating seeking a judicial review to get transcripts of the secret debate released.

Sources from within the Assembly have told the JEP that Mr Horsfall had been the victim of a ‘vitriolic character assassination’ as Members debated replacing him as the chairman of the Waterfront Enterprise Board with former Deputy Gerald Voisin.

The former Senator has approached the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, to ask if he will consider releasing the transcripts of the debate which the press and public were barred from.

If that fails, he may go to the Royal Court instead.

‘How can it be right that I read in the JEP that there has been a character assassination of me but I cannot reply and I cannot know what was said and by who.
