Moped theft may jeopardise netball star’s career
Saturday 22nd July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
ENGLAND netball star Serena Guth-rie fears that her career could be jeopardised now that thieves have stolen her moped.
She has relied on lifts from her mum to get to practice since she left her scooter parked in Pitt Street, behind Romerils, overnight on Tuesday.
When she returned at Wednesday lunchtime she was shocked to find that her £1,400 blue and silver Peugeot moped, bought for her by her parents two months ago, was gone.
She can rely on lifts in the Island, but it is when the 16-year-old ex-Le Rocquier pupil moves to the UK to attend the prestigious Ralph Allen School in September that she will have problems.
The family bought the bike so that Serena could make the journey between her college and the England squad’s training ground, which she will be expected to do almost every night of the week.
