New look for loos?

THREE more public toilets have been ear-marked for development – into al fresco cafés.
The upgrade of the St Helier toilets will also include them being turned into unisex cubicles, which will be open 24 hours a day.
Parishioners attending last week’s rate assembly were told by St Helier’s technical services director Peter Noble that the Victorian-styled separate toilets for men and women were being converted into single unisex units.
Those toilets would be cubicles with direct access from the street, making it less likely that vandalism and solvent abuse would occur.
Among the toilets up for a total refit are those at La Collette where there are plans to remove the pitched roof and create an al fresco area above a refreshment concession.
There will be two unisex toilets there, which along with all the other similar units planned, will be wheelchair friendly and have a baby changing area.
