Three shooters finish in top100 in Queen’s

Monday 24th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.

JERSEY had three shooters in the top 100 of the Queen’s final at Bisley on Saturday.

Ian Jones came 52nd with Colin Mallett 53rd, both with scores of 291 ex-300.

Mary Norman was 80th from an initial field of 1,500.

The winner, Surrey’s Jon Underwood, scored 297.

In the Mackinnon team competition, 12 shooters per side shooting at 900 and 1,000 yards, Jersey again fared badly, fading away towards the end and finishing mid-table behind Guernsey.

There was some consolation in the St George’s final yesterday morning, however, as both Chris Cotillard and Richard Benest finished in the top 100 while Peter Stock returned to Jersey with a trophy for finishing with the highest individual score in the Public Schools’ veterans match last Thursday, and Daniel Richardson won the Queen’s consolation prize, on Friday, for the highest score at 900 yards.
