New park planned at bus station
Tuesday 25th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
PLANS to turn the Weighbridge into a park are due to be unveiled tomorrow.
A cobbled street, granite paving, trees and al-fresco eating are likely to replace the Tarmac bus station that currently occupies the site.
The buses are moving to the new transportation centre on the Island Site next year and the Waterfront Enterprise Board will show plans for the new open space to the St Helier roads committee tomorrow.
Development manager Lee Henry said that in coming up with the design they had taken into account comments made at a public workshop at the Town Hall.
‘The new transportation centre is under construction as we speak and the buses are due to relocate on 30 September 2007,’ he said.
‘We are in the process of preparing a detailed application to Planning.
Once that has been submitted there will be a process of consultation and the public will have an opportunity to comment.’
