Theatre’s smash hit may return, says star

Friday 28th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.

BLOOD Brothers could return to Jersey, the show’s star told Islanders at a charity lunch held in her honour.

Linda Nolan takes the lead role in the hit musical at the Opera House, which runs until tomorrow, and she said that they were having a fabulous time in the Island.

More than 160 people attended the ‘pink’ lunch and raised £3,075 for charities After Breast Cancer Support Group and Cancer Research (UK) Jersey.

The event was held in Miss Nolan’s honour, as a sufferer of breast cancer, and she spoke to those present about the time the show’s cast had spent in Jersey, praising the former Opera House director Ian Stephens.

She said: ‘We’ve had a fabulous time at the Opera House – thanks Ian! It is just a shame you were not there when we were.

We have had a great time in Jersey and have been made to feel very welcome, not only in the theatre by all the staff, but also by the Jersey people.

‘I do hope we will be asked back to Jersey.

We would like to bring the show back because it has had such a terrific response.

The Opera House is a beautiful theatre and we all hope it will get the support to keep it going.’ Talking about her experience with cancer, Miss Nolan said: ‘It’s a long process, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we will get there – because we are women and we do that!’
