Jersey is the family favourite

JERSEY has been voted the top British holiday destination for families.

In an online poll by YouGov, commissioned by the Flybe airline, the Island came first in three of the 14 categories and second in five.

Jersey was also the best of British for its pavement café culture and as a walking centre.

It narrowly beat Guernsey as a family destination in the poll, which attracted 2,231 replies earlier this month.

It is a welcome boost for the Island’s beleaguered tourism industry, with many within the business detecting another fall in visitor numbers this summer.

Although 18% of the respondents said they never holiday in Britain because of the unpredictable weather, last year 25% of Britons spent time discovering the British Isles.
