Woman lay dead for a month at flats
Wednesday 11th October 2006, 12:00AM BST.
A 68-YEAR-OLD woman was found in her home in Berkshire Court about a month after she died, an inquest heard yesterday.
The body of Ann Wetzel was found on Tuesday 3 October, shortly after concern that something may have happened to her was raised by staff of the company who manage the one-bedroom flats in La Motte Street for the Jersey Homes Trust.
The inquest recorded that the cause of death could not be found because of the time that had lapsed afterwards.
Police said that there were no suspicious circumstances.
Michael van Neste, chairman of the Jersey Homes Trust, said that they had great sympathy with her many relatives who lived in the Island.
It was hoped that lessons could be learned from the tragedy so that it never happened again.
‘This is a desperately sad issue for the whole community when a woman who lives within it expires in this way and no one knows about it,’ he said.
