Smoking ban starts

SMOKERS who light up in bars, restaurants and offices from today are breaking the law.
The smoking ban came into effect at four o’clock this morning, making it illegal to smoke in enclosed workplaces. The head of the Island’s largest pub group said that the ban would make life tougher for publicans, but hoped there would be new business for bars from non-smokers rediscovering the love of a local pub.
