RUNNING:Dave Ibbotson was the fastest up Bouley Bay in Jersey Spartan’s annual hill climb on Saturday afternoon.
In far from pleasant conditions, he finished the trial of strength and stamina in five minutes 26 seconds – ten seconds ahead of U17 competitor Tom Brown.
Top lady Jo McGarry was the next to cross the line in 6.03 min, just pipping Grant Stenhouse by four seconds.
Kerry Petulla (6.55) and Sam Horsfall (7.16) were the next ladies home.

SHOOTING: De la Haye high after victory – Jon de la Haye was High Gun and winner of Class AA in the Lecq Clay Target Club’s 75 Bird Sporting event on Christmas Eve with a score of 67.

GOLF: Comte De La Grèze champ – Johnnie Johnson was the overall winner of the Royal Jersey Golf Club’s Comte De La Grèze 2006 with an aggregate score of 140.
He was closely followed by Martin Viney who took second place after a round two win with a nett 69.
Paul Le Rougetel finished third on 141.
HOCKEY: Christmas charity hockey – An invitational hockey development fun mixed triangular tournament took place on Saturday at Claremont Field.
The competition featuring all those involved in hockey development raised £185 in aid of Cancer Research.
GOLF: Captain’s beat Secretary’s – The Captain’s team beat the Secretary’s team by 283 points to 258 in the Demi Golf Society match on Saturday.
Top individual scores: Robert Smith (20 handicap) 38 points, Richard Cornick (10 handicap) 37 pts, Jeff Wright (16 handicap) 36 pts (all Captain’s).
SHOOTING: New Year’s high for Le Brun – Richard Le Brun won Class A of Lecq Clay Target Club’s 75 Bird Sporting competition on New Years Eve with a score of 70 to take the high gun title.
Mark Andrews, on 66, finished second in Class A ahead of Dave Le Rendu and Chris Settle who shared third place on 64.
Victory in Class B was shared between Paul Lister and Wayne Shales who both scored 61 ahead of Paul Cragg on 57.
In Class C, Dean Lawrence took the win on 47, with Paul Carboulec second on 45 and William Hickinbottom third with a score of 40.
Kay Cragg won the ladies’ group on 45 and Mark Carboulec the junior class on 41.
GOLF: December success for Myers – Chris Myers was the scratch winner in St Ouen’s Bay Golf Society December Stableford with a gross score of 72 to earn 42 points.
Eddie O’Toole was the Senior winner with 43 points.
