New ferry on St Malo route
Wednesday 3rd January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
A NEW car ferry service competing with Condor on the Jersey to St Malo route is to be launched in March, with the UK company behind the business investing £8 million in the venture.
And the battle for foot passengers will be even more intense with the start of a second new service in June owned by a French company and capable of carrying 205 passengers. Islanders can look forward to low fares from the UK-owned HDferries, who are intent on bringing the low-cost airline model to the ferry industry. Sailings will start on 15 March and the early-morning departure to St Malo will be at 7.15, which will enable travellers to catch the TGV fast rail service to Paris.
