Mobile phone mast petition presented

A PETITION signed by over 1,000 Islanders against the building of mobile masts near schools and homes in Jersey has been handed over to the Planning Department.

Deputy Anne Pryke received the petition – organised by the Jersey Mobile Mast Concern Group – less than a week before Minister Freddie Cohen is due to begin processing applications for masts. But representatives of the group, who believe that the emissions from phone masts have an adverse effect on health, are not holding out much hope that their point of view will be taken into account.
