Goodbye to all Sats?

THE UK government are following the Island’s lead and considering replacing national tests children take at 11 and 14 with shorter but more frequent assessments.
The Standardised Assessment Tests (Sats) were stopped in the Island last May after a pilot scheme, started in 2003, to replace the exams with teacher assessments had been successful. The decision to ditch the Sats in English, maths and science was made after the UK told Education that they planned to start charging Jersey for the tests and that Islanders would not be allowed to sit the exams at the same time as students in England.
