Solved: The mystery of the black pellets

A CLEAN-UP operation has been launched after it was revealed that mystery black objects found washed up in St Aubin’s Bay had escaped from the sewage treatment works at Bellozanne.
Waste managers at Transport and Technical Services said that the little cog-like pellets flooded over a filter screen during a ‘surge’ following the power cut on Christmas Day. Transport chief John Richardson said that the accident posed no bacterial or health risks, even though solid matter had escaped into the sea.
