Charities’ appeal closes in on target
Wednesday 10th January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
THIS year’s Joint Charities Christmas Appeal is on course to reach its £115,000 target.
So far £107,800 has been raised to support Islanders in need of financial help over the festive period and donations are still being sent in. The amount collected has risen substantially over the last week thanks to a single donation from an Island resident. Although food, toy and fuel vouchers and hampers were given to around 1,500 families in Jersey before Christmas, the Appeal Committee work a year in arrears, so money raised now will help Islanders next December. Money is also kept back to distribute as fuel vouchers in case of a cold snap in late winter.
