Scrutiny report ‘waste of public money’
Thursday 11th January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
HEALTH Minister Stuart Syvret has branded the Scrutiny report into the closure of Overdale Hospital a ‘waste of time and public money’.
He said that the 95-page report, published yesterday, revealed more about the inadequacies of Scrutiny than it did about the closure of wards. Senator Syvret said that a great deal of the panel’s findings were misguided and in some cases plainly wrong – and that their report added nothing to the debate surrounding the Overdale closures. The sub-panel began the review in August after being contacted by a number of concerned Islanders who had family members in the Leoville and McKinstry wards. This followed Senator Stuart Syvret’s announcement that the two wards would be closed and that all the residents would be transferred into private care homes.
