Water source still not clear, insists diviner

THE mystery of where Jersey’s groundwater comes from has not been resolved, according to the water diviner who prompted boreholes to be dug to get to the bottom of the problem.

George Langlois, who claims that water under Jersey could flow from France, said he would retire from divining if tests carried out proved that the Island’s groundwater had simply fallen as rain. But despite the recently published results of the tests, which concluded that the source of deep ground water was rain falling over Jersey, Mr Langlois is not giving up. He thinks the results are flawed and inconclusive. ‘We still don’t know where the Island’s deep water comes from because the test boreholes were faulty and did not go deep enough,’ he said. ‘Basing a new water law on these findings, which the States intend to do, is totally out of order because important questions remain unanswered.’
