Islanders have been invited to attend public meetings tonight and tomorrow night and the sub-panel have also organised lectures and hearings for next month.

At a public hearing tomorrow afternoon in the Blampied Room an English expert on mobile phone emissions, Barrie Trower, will explain to the sub-panel the health risks he believes are posed by mobile base stations. The public meetings at Hautlieu, tonight, and St Brelade’s Parish Hall, tomorrow night, begin at 7 pm. Mr Trower will be speaking to Scrutiny at 3.30 pm on Friday. On Tuesday Deputies Alan Breckon and Colin Egré, St Brelade Constable Mike Jackson and Senator Ben Shenton – all members of the telephone mast sub-panel – were encouraging people in the Royal Square to fill out a questionnaire about their perceived risks about mobile base stations. And last Monday Planning Minister Freddie Cohen announced that he had passed 26 mobile phone applications on the first day that the six-week moratorium ended.
