Football:Top two clash at Le Bouilvot
Friday 19th January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
THE leading two teams in the Coca-Cola Combination meet for Division I points at Le Boulivot tomorrow afternoon.
Leaders Jersey Scottish travel east looking to avenge a 2-0 defeat at Springfield in October which was Grouville’s first ever top flight win against the Island’s most successful club over the last ten years.
The Scots, who have won 15 trophies since the start of the 1996-97 season – two more than St Peter – currently hold a three-point advantage over Grouville with the parish side having a game in hand.
Grouville have again proved a difficult side to break down this season and last weekend they suffered their first league reverse, 3-1 at Rozel Rovers, after eight consectutive victories in all competitions.
The Scots are in form, too, with 33 goals scored in six consecutive league wins, although they did have a massive setback during the run with a 1-0 Le Riche Cup defeat away to Division II St Martin/SCF.
Grouville will give late fitness tests to forwards Paul Crompton and Alex Jeffries while Scottish’s Luke Watson misses out because of a suspension.
The bottom four are all in action against each other tomorrow, Magpies host St Ouen at the Airport while the two teams immediately above them, First Tower and Trinity, meet at Trinity.
Victory for Rozel Rovers tomorrow, at St Saviour against St Paul’s, would push them up to fourth place.
All matches kick-off at 2.30 pm.
